I've had it since I was 5, it seem to suddenly start as if someone turned a switch. It's gotten steadily worse but hypnotherapy has helped closely.
walgreens claims to enjoy a pill for it
it might. does anyone else in your family own it? thats why i have it, every one on my moms side of the family have it. in our family every one, near time, ends up with a hearing loss. i havent but but im only 17. everyone who suffers from tinnitus hears it different mine sounds approaching a loud hum, like a huge computer or a high pitched buzz. i own nocturnal(not sure if i spelled that right) pets in my room so they make alot of disturbance and that helps but when i go out of town i us a devotee. fans help me alot, i dont know why, they arent that loud.
hope i help Source(s): runs in the family
I have suffered from this for 16 years and haven't found a cure yet. Howerver the symptoms ease a lot when I started a course of anti-depressants. If you can't get your kid into his/her own room, try sleeping with your IPOD/MP3 player on (or whatever they beckon a walkman these days).
one of my work collegues has ringing within one of her ears i think you will have it for natural life, she is on tablets for it i would go to the doctors if i was you to see what can be done. i dont know what they beckon the tablets but she says it makes it a bit better for her,xx
There is NO pill to cure it. I've had it for 30 years and yes it's gotten worse. Just notice it more and more when I try to shift to bed and it's quiet. I did get involved surrounded by a study trial for pills which was a year long (I went within every 6 weeks and they gave me the next sets of pills and did a audible range test each time). Unfortunately it did zilch for me. The dr. said the only alternative for me was surgery (where they drive in something similar to a hearing aid in your ears which emit 'white noise' then eventually you no longer hear the ringing) it was expensive though. I newly live with it. Sorry.
I had this problem for many years and be finally diagnosed with Meniere's syndrome. The doctor prescribed a diuretic to relieve the water build-up contained by my ear (the water pressing on the nerves/drum is what causes the nouns you hear...and also causes hearing impair.)

In the end, though, the diuretic didn't help much. I did, however, do abundantly of reading on the problem/diagnosis, and discovered that many people get relief from the 'roaring' sound by taking B12 supplements and from managing their stress smooth.

I did both...and the tinnitus/sound in my ears went within to some sort of remission. It rarely bothers me - usually only when I am really stressed-out. Then I of late take extra B12 (it is NOT toxic even in glorious doses.)

You probably should see a doctor as well to rule out other possible causes of the problem. You don't want to lose your audible range.

Good luck!
I hold had tinnitus for the past three years as segment of Menieres disease.
I find that stress and poor diet makes mine worse.
Have you gone to your doctor and had the effect of your tinnitus looked into?
Try reducing salt in your diet and drinking more hose down.
